Sauna Use, Care & Safety
In order to use your Touchstone Infrared Sauna safely, please remember:
- Infrared Sauna therapy produces a large amount of sweat, so it's important to stay hydrated. Please drink water before, during and after your sauna session to prevent dehydration.
- Don't shower immediately after your sauna session. Sweating opens up your pores and soap and other chemicals can clog them up. It's best to wait to shower, however if you choose to shower immediately, it's recommended to do so without soap until such time as your body has cooled down and your pores returned to normal.
- Do not drink alcohol before or during sauna use.
- If you stop sweating or don't feel well during your sauna session, please get out immediately. This can be a sign of dehydration and can be dangerous.
- If you have a chronic or serious medical condition, please discuss it with your physician before using an infrared sauna.
Touchstone Infrared Saunas require almost no maintenance. To keep them looking new for many years, please follow the following tips:
- To prevent moisture from warping or prematurely aging the wood, it's recommended to use a towel during your sauna session. Sitting on a towel can absorb the moisture caused by sweating and will keep keep your sauna looking new for many years.
- When finished with your sauna session, simply wipe down the wood with a towel or soft cloth to remove any sweat, moisture or dirt.
- Do NOT use any chemicals or other cleaners on your sauna. These can vaporize into the air during the next sauna session and cause a potential for inhalation. A good, non-toxic furniture wax is great for polishing up the exterior of the sauna.
